The Homebase is a great home device. This device is not meant to travel. This device has the largest range of service coverage. If the signal bars are Red, the sim card is inserted the wrong way. Have the customer remove and reinsert the SIM card correctly. When the Homebase processes updates the APN settings may be altered. If this is the case it will need to be reset to match the correct/current plan. 

Before Diving into the apn settings for both versions it is important to know how to tell the difference between the devices. The main difference between the two and the tell-tell sign of the version you have is the logo on top of the device.

How to solve APN settings: (Verison 1: "ATT Logo") 

  • The customer is connected to the Homebase through the WiFi name and password. Yes, you are able to connect to the WiFi signal without an internet connection only to access the Admin page. 
  • Once connected to the Homebase, direct the customer to the admin page below: http://att.wirelessinternet/ 
  • The login password is "attadmin" 
  • Once on the admin page, go to settings. 
  • Click the Network settings tab, the APN will be just below. 
  • Hit the add button, then the following must be typed exactly.  
  • Profile Name: "OTR Mobile" 
  • APN: "broadband" (ALL LOWERCASE
  • Click: Set default 
  • Restart the Homebase, once power back on the lights all should be Green.   

How to solve APN settings: (Version 2: "ZTE Logo")

(ZTE Homebase MF279) Launch a web browser from a device that is connected to the modem. The device can be a computer that is directly connected to the modem or a client from a router that is ONLY connected to the modem. Regardless if there is a connection or not. If you use a cellphone you must turn the cellular data off and connect to the modem as the wifi source. Connection or not. Or connect with the Ethernet cord provided in the packaging. 

Once you are connected to the hotspot you will need to pull up a web browser and type 


  1. This will bring up the settings of the device
  2. You will type in admin for the password
  3. You will then click settings in the middle of the screen
  4. Click APN

5.Click the radio button beside “Manual

6. This will allow you to update the APN settings after clicking add new

Profile Name: OTR Mobile 

APN: broadband

7. Click Set Default 

8. Power the device off for at least 60 seconds.  

Locating the Reset Button/Performing a Factory Reset:

To locate the reset button on your Homebase, you will first have to remove the back of the device. Once you have done so you should notice a small button near the battery that says "RESET", to press it you will need a small needle or pin. Hold it in for 15 seconds then wait as it resets. You will know it is resetting as all of the led indicators will flash blue. BE AWARE THAT RESETTING THE DEVICE WILL REMOVE YOUR APN SETTINGS ALONGSIDE YOUR SAVED SETTINGS.
